Helen's Pilates & Yoga

I have always been interested in exercises and fitness. When I left school I went to work in a bank but have been a member of health clubs in one form or another since the age of fifteen. I have tried all that they have to offer. I have used weights and machines and tried every form of exercise and class the clubs had to offer but none of them gave me the overall sense of wellbeing that I wanted.

Then I discovered Pilates about eighteen years ago. Within a matter of weeks I began to feel the internal strength that had been eluding me. My movements became more controlled and responsive, I was standing straighter and feeling more energized than ever before. After a few short months my muscles began to get stronger and longer and my flexibility increased tenfold. I felt as graceful and lithe as a dancer. Subsequently my aches and pains vanished and I found myself enjoying life so much more. I was hooked.

In 2001, I enrolled on a certification course and in February 2004 I qualified as a Pilates teacher. I left my job in the Bank and have not looked back. I have immersed myself in the world of Pilates as both a student and a teacher. I set up my own business in 2004 and have been teaching ever since. I now teach ten Pilates classes per week and would have to say, I have never felt better, healthier or happier. I love nothing more than when one of my students tell me that the back ache or the knee problem etc., that they had has now disappeared since they have been doing Pilates.
